Canadian Restorative Justice Consortium

a meeting to establish the structure and function of the CRJC

Canadian Restorative Justice Consortium
Invitation

The Steering Committee of the Canadian Restorative Justice Consortium (CRJC) is inviting you to attend a working and formational meeting relating to the establishment of a National RJ Association. This meeting is the culmination of 2 years of consultation and engagement of the RJ community in Canada by the CRJC Steering Committee. The Steering Committee has been made up of volunteers from various aspects of the RJ movement. The consultation paper is attached to provide you with the history and background of the Consortium, the Steering Committee and the outcomes of our consultations to date.

March 22 & 23, 2010
St. Benedict’s Retreat and Conference Centre
225 Masters Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba
8:30am – 4:30pm
Limited onsite accommodation available.
*** Agenda to follow.

The meeting will be held to establish the structure and function of the CRJC and to elect/appoint a group of individuals to act on behalf of the CRJC.

We hope to gather a geographically diverse group of individuals. Provincial and regional RJ groups are encouraged to identify and send a representative to the meeting. We would like to invite people who are interested in establishing a national restorative justice consortium. This includes, but is not limited to; people affiliated with faith groups, restorative justice programs, offender programs, victim’s programs/services, aboriginal programs/services, academics, schools and government programs

The funds for this event are limited, as is the meeting space we have chosen. We are therefore encouraging organizations to nominate one individual from their respective groups. We will also be looking to ensure that this meeting is representative geographically and across a wide spectrum of the diversity of restorative work in this country .
