Who We Are
The Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario is one of thirteen regional bodies that together comprise The United Church of Canada, which was formed in 1925 via the union of three denominations - Congregationalist, Methodist and part of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. Our Conference includes 249 congregations with 49,400 members.
Our purpose is
- to offer resources of faith to the congregations within our bounds;
- to ordain, commission and recognize new ministry personnel at an annual gathering of ministry personnel and elected lay representatives from all congregations;
- to speak both pastorally and prophetically while providing education and advocacy on issues that affect the health of our communities.
