We sing of God’s good news lived out, a church with purpose:
faith nurtured and hearts comforted,
gifts shared for the good of all,
resistance to the forces that exploit and marginalize,
fierce love in the face of violence, human dignity defended,
members of a community held and inspired by God, corrected and comforted,
instrument of the loving Spirit of Christ, creation’s mending.
We sing of God’s mission.
This excerpt from the United Church’s Song of Faith speaks of the breadth of the portfolio of Evangelism, Mission, and Church development in which Nancy serves. Winnipeg Presbytery desires to reclaim the practice of evangelism as “God’s word lived out”. Nancy offers leadership to congregations, community (outreach) and specialized ministries within Winnipeg as they build on the rich heritage of the past, discuss today’s challenges and celebrations, and plan for ways to live out God’s word into the future.
Winnipeg Presbytery engages in various faces of mission, creating “places where human dignity is defended and God’s love is professed in the face of violence”. Nancy participates in conversations with our ecumenical partners and intercultural and community ministries as we strive to be an inclusive, affirming and servant church.
Winnipeg Presbytery strives to nourish our existing communities and create new communities “where members are held and inspired by God.” Resource to existing congregations is balanced with a focus on new initiatives as we watch with anticipation at where the Spirit is at work in the life of our Presbytery and the ministries within it.
And so, in the areas of mission, evangelism and church development, Nancy ministers with Winnipeg Presbytery to become “an instrument of the loving Spirit of Christ, creation’s mending. Together, we sing of God’s mission.”
